Malton Show 2017

Well, Malton Show 2017 has been a huge success. The weather was beautiful, everyone was in good spirit and the atmosphere was fantastic.

The turnout for this year’s classic car section was astonishing after almost tripling the entrants from last year which was the first time we had become part of the show and organised such an event. We were blown away by the variation of vehicles this year. We had everything from a BWM Isetta (bubble car) to a General Lee Dodge Charger and an Aston Martin DB6. There was something for everyone.  Due to the vast increase in entries this year, the judging was particularly difficult. All judges agreed that the prestigious “Best in Show” had to go to Mr Dave Fishwick and his 1960 Triumph TR3A.  Dave and his Father in law had just completed a comprehensive restoration spanning 16 years. Well done chaps. Each category had strong competition and the results are as follows.   BEST IN CLASS PRE WAR / 40s1st Mr Keith Kirk & his 1934 Austin 10/4 – AFC 1472nd Mrs Charlotte Dixon & her 1935 Austin Seven Tourer – VG 81483rd Mr David Salter & his 1947 Alvis TA14 Duncan Coupe – CVG 119 1950’s 1st Mr Brian Price & his 1956 MG ZB Magnette – USL 7382nd Mr John May & his 1954 MG TF – PLV 2093rd Mr James Emery & his 1953 Bentley R Type – URA 340 1960’s1st Mr Dave Fishwick & his 1960 Triumph TR3A – 258 UYU2nd Mr V Weeks & his 1960 Austin Healey 3000 – 335 UYN3rd Mr Stephen Ruddick & his 1968 Jaguar S-Type 3.4S – VWX 931F 1970’s1st Mr & Mrs Shaw & their 1972 Rover P6 3500S – DXG 569K2nd Mr Graham Carter & his 1975 Ford Consul 3.0GT – LAG 938P3rd Mr Bryan Ward & his 1976 MG B GT – PWX 780R  1980’s1st Mr Nick Waslink & his 1988 Audi Quattro – F532 RVL2nd Mr Douglas Breckon & his 1983 Jaguar XJ6 – ADC 91Y3rd Mr Mike Leadbeater & his 1982 BMW 320 – MEC 490X 1990’s 1st Mrs Pat Beacock & her 1993 Toyota MR2 – K249 OFM2nd Mr M Burnett & his 1993 MG RV8 – J400 MGR 3rd Mr Richard Welford-Smith & his 1995 Jaguar XJS Celebration – J40 OOH I would like to extend my thanks to Neil Kirk and the East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club (EYTCC) for their input and tremendous enthusiasm, Andrew Payne for marshalling the entrance, all the staff from Malton Coachworks and Classic & Sportscar Centre who all volunteered their time judging/marshalling and assisting people on our stand.  Finally, big special thanks for all who attended and took part, without you, we wouldn’t have a show.
